Compliant Mechanism Total Disc Replacement

The research of advanced compliant mechanism technology is applied to developing innovative arthroplasty devices that will be installed through surgical intervention to relieve pain originating from the lumbar spine. Areas of research include mechanisms for total disk replacement and/or disk regeneration. These devices will closely mimic the kinetics and kinematics of a healthy disk with little—to no—friction, which will improve both short-term and long-term applications.
